Adopt-a-Highway

Meeting Location: Busse Woods Grove 1 - Entrance on North side of Higgins Road, first entrance West of Arl. Hts. Road.

We've received approval for the Illinois Adopt-A-Highway program and now 'own' the section of Higgins Road between IL 53 and Arlington Heights Road - right through our home course of Busse Woods! There are signs indicating our BWRC name at each end of the stretch of road (how cool).

We commit to remove litter along the highway 4x per year using volunteers in groups up to 15 each. And, each person gets to wear a way-cool safety vest!

What a great way to give back to our community and increase visibility to our fantastic organization along the way. 

Safety vests and plastic bags will be supplied. Bring water bottle, gloves, long pants, long sleeves, sturdy shoes/boots, sunglasses, hat sunscreen, bug spray.

Brooks Best Fest at Dick Pond Athletics

Join the Busse Woods Running Club and Dick Pond Racing in completing the Brooks Best Fest Strava Challenge.

Earn a Brooks Best Fest Chicago badge on Strava by running 13.1 miles between August 12th through September 1st. Does not need to be 13.1 miles in one run.

Once you complete all your run(s) that total 13.1 miles, you will be sent to Dick Pond Atletics in Hoffman Estates to claim your Worlds Best Runner Mug or Best Fest Medal. You will also be entered into a sweepstakes for a Best Fest limited-edition Ghost 12!

Paint Your Pet & Sip to Benefit BWRC

Paint Your Pet & Sip to Benefit BWRC

Aided by our fun-loving instructors, create an original masterpiece of your pet, all while enjoying food and drinks! For this class, we are donating a portion of every ticket to Busse Woods Running Club. Whether you have a cat, dog, bird, or lizard- come join us as we paint masterpieces of our pets while supporting a great cause. One pet per canvas. All skill levels are welcome!

$50 per ticket. This includes:

1. A pre-sketched canvas of your pet if you email us a photo of your pet AT LEAST 2 days before class.
2. All art materials provided.
3. An introductory paint tutorial and 3 hours of painting.

PRE-SKETCHED CANVAS DIRECTIONS:
Once you have purchased your ticket, please email one 'clear' photo of your pet and a copy of your ticket to paintyourpetandsiprsvp@gmail.com. Head shot or face photos will work best. Please include any names of guests you'd like to sit with during class. One pet per canvas only.

We’re joining our friends at CARA to celebrate Global Running Day

Location: Busse Woods Forest Preserve. (Meet at the comfort station east of Hwy 53 and Higgins Rd. Traveling east on Higgins Rd, make the first right into the forest preserve. Then take the first left. Park at circle drive and meet near the comfort station / bathroom house.)

Distance: 3 Miles

Start Time: 6:30 p.m.


Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages everyone to get moving.

RUN the 5K or 10K course or WALK the 5K course

  • See course map HERE. 

  • A Challenge! Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes, a veteran and long distance runner, will donate $5.00 to SALUTE, INC. for anyone who beats his time!

  • Water Stations at each mile - flat roads - professionally timed. 

  • Trophies to top male and female finishers will be presented at Recreation Park (located at the finish line) at the conclusion of the race. 

  • Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age category.

  • USAT certified courses

Honor the Service...Remember the Sacrifice

Race begins at 8:00 am at Recreation Park in Arlington Hts. and ends at the same location.

*No dogs allowed on course (with exception of registered service dogs)

Chicagoland Spring Marathon, Half Marathon & BWRC Volunteer Opportunity

Race The Event or Support BWRC!

The first volunteering opportunity with All Community is Sunday May 19th at the Chicagoland Spring Half and Full Marathons. It Starts in Schaumburg and runs through our very own Busse Woods.

There's many different roles to fill for this event and will be assigned at a later date. Volunteers are needed from 6:00 am-1:00 pm.

Our very own Caitlin Krause and Amor Rimpula-Logan have been kind enough to volunteer their time in coordinating the volunteer opportunities. If you wish to give back to the Club this is a great opportunity. Here's the link to sign up below.
